“Seriously one of the best I’ve been to and I’ve been to a lot of haunted houses.  Loved it.”

“Thx for breaking my kneecaps — all for a good cause.”

“That thing was kickass.  Highly scary and I am going to tell everyone I know to go.”

“I love it! It was awesome … U guys did a great job!”

Why a haunted house?
The haunted house industry is multi-million dollar.  Halloween is the second highest-grossing commercial holiday behind Christmas.  I can’t think of a more exciting way to raise money for a great cause around this time of the year and getting to have fun serving in the process.  Surely, Halloween may have an uneasy history with people like myself a part of the Church, but it is important to distinguish the different aspects of the holiday and know what to reject vs. redeem.
Why in Stapleton?
Stapleton is one of the older waterfront neighborhoods of Staten Island, built in the 1830s on land once owned by the Vanderbilt family. It was a long-time commercial center of the island, but has struggled to revive after several decades of neglect following the building in 1964 of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, which shifted the commercial development of the island to its interior.
Plus, when you hear families from the area saying such things as, “no one has ever done anything like this for us before,” it puts it all into perspective.
Why with the NycArtsCypher?
This local non-profit caters to troubled youth through arts and entertainment, teaching them the fundamentals of everyday life using dance, song, design, and an affinity for the urban context.  All proceeds will benefit the organization and the kids involved with their programs.

“Once upon a time, New York City had a sixth borough.” “What’s a borough?” “That’s what I call an interruption.” “I know, but the story won’t make any sense to me if I don’t know what a borough is.” “It’s like a neighborhood. Or a collection of neighborhoods.” “So if there was once a sixth borough, then what are the five boroughs?” “Manhattan, obviously, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and the Bronx.” “Have I ever been to any of the other boroughs?” “Here we go.” “I just want to know.” “We went to the Bronx Zoo once, a few years ago. Remember that?” “No.” “And we’ve been to Brooklyn to see the roses at the Botanic Garden.” “Have I been to Queens?” “I don’t think so.” “Have I been to Staten Island?” “No.” “Was there really a sixth borough?” “I’ve been trying to tell you.” “No more interruptions. I promise.”

Geographically speaking, Queens is located in Long Island, the Bronx in Westchester, and Staten Island in New Jersey. However, you’ve really got to give it up to Staten: they’ve managed to close their landfill and re-direct all of New York’s garbage back to Jersey. That’s talent.

often labeled the fifth & forgotten borough of New York, is both the most suburban and least populated of the city. Known for its Jersey Shore rejects, loud-mouth Mob Wives, and hip hop group, the Wu-Tang Clan, Staten Island is also home to a community of believers that love and enjoy the city and are seeking its renewal through the message & mercy of their MAKER
