5th & Forgotten: Staten Island guys sensitive? The ferry romantic? Bullying Bogus? New Bus Time Tracking & #GTGVB

Staten Island Ferry city’s most romantic spot — at least according to Mayor Bloomberg

There is one thing everybody can agree on: It is cheap. Beyond that, the jury is out on Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s pick as the “best spot in NYC” for a first date. “The Staten Island Ferry!” Hizzoner gushed in a surprise tweet Tuesday in response to a survey conducted by New York Magazine. Despite the mayor’s unsolicited enthusiasm, he no has no need to woo longstanding gal pal Diana with a first date joyride on the would-be Loveboat, pushed up against tourists angling for a view of Lady Liberty.

But here here for the props, Mr. Mayor!

Looking for a sensitive guy? Search no further than Staten Island, study finds

Listen up, ladies of Staten Island:
Searching for a sensitive man? You’re in the right place.

At least according to a survey released by popular dating site Chemistry.com, which included our apparently thoughtful, tender and perceptive borough in its Top 10 list of places in the nation where women can find a sensitive man.

S.I. Buses Now Equipped With ‘Bus Time’ Tracking Service

Staten Island was named No. 10 on the survey, based on Chemistry.com user data.

It’s called “Bus Time,” and on Wednesday the Metropolitan Transportation Authority rolled it out on every bus that runs on Staten Island.

“For the people with some of the longest commute times in the country, this is a really good day,” said City Councilman James Oddo.

Bus Time uses GPS to let riders track where each bus is in real time. Riders with smartphones or computers can get updated arrival information on the MTA website.

Regular cell phone users can text the ID number posted at each stop and get a text back saying how many stops away the bus is.

Police rule out bullying for teen suicide

A despondent Staten Island girl who committed suicide by jumping in front of a bus last month was not bullied by her classmates, a police investigation has found.

Numerous interviews with close friends and family members have yielded no proof that torment from fellow teens caused Amanda Cummings, 15, to kill herself two days after Christmas, multiple law-enforcement sources said.

“No one had any previous signs of her being bullied,” said one source with knowledge of the case.

A 15-year-old girl who had been friends with Cummings since the age of 3 told investigators that her friend fell hard for boys and took breakups very badly, sources said. She also said Cummings had recently been drinking and smoking heavily, the sources added.

Operation GTGVB:

 Gym, tan, get Vinny back.

Everyone on the Jersey Shore got together, made some custom “Vinny” shirts and went to Staten Island to “kidnap” their long-time pal and bring him back to the Shore house.  They found Vinny in his room and with smiles were all over the place, Vin showed off his new tat on his chest that said, “Let Go, Let God” (plus some new abs).  Soon after, everyone went back to NJ but how long will Vinny stick around?

F&F MIN: Fecal Rampage, PS 22 up for MTV Award, 12 yr old Muslim Hate Crime, Tough love, Facebook lawsuit, Hot Pocket kidnapping

Staten Island man set pregnant ex-girlfriend’s apartment ablaze in bizarre fecal rampage, cops allege

A 24-year-old Stapleton man was so enraged by the mother of his unborn child, police say, that he smeared his own excrement on her apartment door in Clifton and lit it ablaze — all while she, her two young children, and two other people were trapped inside.

Rasheen (Illuminati) Harrison, of Hill Street, now faces arson and other charges in connection with the bizarre Sunday incident.

Youngsters at the Graniteville school have been nominated by MTV for an “O Music Award,” for the group’s YouTube performance of Phoenix’s “Lisztomania,” according to a report on NY1.

A second student has been arrested on hate crime charges in the alleged attack last week on a Muslim classmate at Dreyfus Intermediate School.

Krystal C., as identified by the city Law Department, was arrested on felony charges of third-degree assault as a hate crime and aggravated harassment as a hate crime Friday night, according to a police spokesman.

Krystal, 13, and Osman D., 12 — who was arrested last week on the same charges in the incident — allegedly attempted to rip off the hijab of a 13-year-old female student at the Stapleton school.

West Brighton couple arrested for trying to leave ‘uncontrollable’ 6-year-old daughter at police station, according to court papers

Talk about tough love.  A young West Brighton couple faces criminal charges after, police allege, the mom tried to abandon her unruly 6-year-old daughter at the 120th Precinct stationhouse while the dad waited in the car outside.

Annette Gerhardt and Gerardo Santiago, 25 and 27, of Mada Avenue, later told police they only meant it as a scare tactic, but authorities didn’t buy that argument, and charged both with misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.120th.jpg

Facebook, city named in lawsuit filed by parents of Staten Island murder victim Caroline Wimmer

The man who murdered Caroline Wimmer has been sentenced. The EMT who pleaded guilty to posting a photo of her dead body on Facebook has been stripped of his certification.

Today, Martha and Ronald Wimmer brought their quest for justice to the steps of Supreme Court in St. George, where, along with attorney Ravi Batra, they announced the filing of a civil suit against a host of individuals and entities in connection with their 26-year-old daughter’s death — including the city and Facebook.

Woman admits she kidnapped child in Hot Pocket dispute

They sure don’t serve Hot Pockets in jail.  A Staten Island teenager admitted she kidnapped her lover’s 3-year-old daughter last month following a spat over eating the man’s last microwaveable munchie.

Aliyah Austin, 16, pleaded guilty yesterday in criminal court to snatching the little girl on Feb. 15 from her Mariners Harbor home while she was supposed to be babysitting the tot, authorities said.

Austin will be sentenced to 60 days in jail and three years probation after copping to a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child.

MTV Jersey Shore’s Angelina has her Third Fight in Three Months…

(credit: SILive.com) ATLANTIC CITY — The fur just seems to fly whenever “Jersey Shore” star and Staten Island resident Angelina Pivarnick is around.

On Saturday night, Ms. Pivarnick, 24, allegedly roughed up a woman trying to photograph her in an Atlantic City casino before the reality-TV star’s scheduled celebrity boxing match.

The dustup at the Casbah Night Club at Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort occurred about five weeks after an Oakwood woman allegedly punched Ms. Pivarnick’s friend as she and the self-proclaimed “Kim Kardashian of Staten Island” were shopping at the Staten Island Mall.  Ms. Pivarnick is one of the stars of MTV’s “Jersey Shore,” which focuses on the escapades of a group of twentysomething Italian-Americans.

Saturday’s incident occurred about 9:30 p.m.

Ms. Pivarnick had traveled to the South Jersey gambling mecca casino to duke it out with Kerry Schwartz, from the VH1 reality show, “Frank the Entertainer in a Basement Affair.”

But the would-be combatants never laced up the gloves, according to published reports.  Instead, Ms. Pivarnick jumped the main event by allegedly attacking a camera-toting bystander.  The alleged victim signed a simple-assault complaint against Ms. Pivarnick on Sunday, said Lt. Dan Ritzel of the Atlantic City Police Department.  Police did not identify the woman.  Ms. Pivarnick’s lawyer has denied the allegations and said his client would vigorously fight them, according to the Web site. www.perezhilton.com.

In the Mall incident, Kelsey Balzafiore, 19, is accused of punching Ms. Pivarnick’s pal, Janina Vaiana, in the face and cutting her lip.  Ms. Pivarnick and Ms. Vaiana were window-shopping Oct. 29 at Hot Topic boutique.

Ms. Pivarnick allegedly was hit in the back of the head during the fracas, but a harassment charge could not be levied because police did not witness the episode, an NYPD spokesman previously told the Advance.

Ms. Balzafiore was charged with misdemeanor assault. Her case is pending in Stapleton Criminal Court.

She has declined comment on the allegations.
