Special Staten Island Community Group Recap
last Monday, April 16th 2012:
Chris from Eltingville:
Upon arriving at Apostles Church for Matt Chandler’s Explicit Gospel tour at 6:15 (more than hour before it was scheduled to begin) the sense of excitement outside was palpable.  By 7:30 when Shane and Shane led worship, every seat in the church was filled, including the balconies.  It was great to watch Matt Chandler in the front row raising his hands and worshipping.  Matt then got up and preached the gospel.  While the sermon was convicting on many levels, two points continue to stand out to me: 1) His reminder that we are the problem (“Has anyone lied to you more than you have?”) and Jesus is the only solution; and 2) The importance of choosing and committing to a local church.

Tonight, 4/23/12, we will be meeting in South Beach on Staten Island at 7:30pm.  We plan to look at the idea of developing a theology of work, and the how’s and why’s of what we do and don’t do in regards to our occupations.  If you are interested in participating in this kind of conversation or would like to know more about Staten Island community group, contact us today!

often labeled the fifth & forgotten borough of New York, is both the most suburban and least populated of the city. Known for its Jersey Shore rejects, loud-mouth Mob Wives, and hip hop group, the Wu-Tang Clan, Staten Island is also home to a community of believers that love and enjoy the city and are seeking its renewal through the message & mercy of Jesus Christ.
