When Jesus historically entered the world almost 2000 years ago, many were expecting a reigning king on a horse ready to divide and conquer. Instead, they encountered a humble construction worker on a donkey from a town that many would call ”fifth and forgotten.” Of course, Jesus could’ve rightfully condemned the world in establishing His Kingdom, but He instead chose to extend His mercy and generosity to “the least of these” - the afflicted, poor, and persecuted - while evangelizing His very people to do the same.
